Favorite Dwellings - Downtown Sarasota

When it comes to finding the perfect condo to call home in the downtown Sarasota area, there really isn't a wrong answer. Our team of agents have listed, sold and showed hundreds of properties in the downtown area and can easily share all the best features of each community. However, there are a few condominiums we'd put at the top of our list. What are some of our favorites? In our new blog series, Favorite Dwellings, We asked a few of our most productive agents to select a downtown condominium and share with our readers why this building is their personal favorite. See our agents' selections and responses below.

Condo Community: Burns Court Villas

An exclusive enclave of 23 two and three-story villa homes, Burns Court Villas was created to capture the vintage flavor of its historic Burns Court neighbors.  For me, it's all about the courtyard.  The Mediterranean-style architecture with it's palate of warm Tuscan colors surround the most magnificent Italian-flavored gardens.  Flowered trellises, stone-covered walkways that wind through Italian statues, a fire pit and stunning stone fountain create a magical setting accessible only to its residents and guests, truly a hidden garden. The builder provided exceptional finishes with travertine flooring, solid wood doors, stainless Viking appliances and included private elevators in the 3-story floor plan.  The fact that you can walk out your door located in the midst of old-world charm and quickly find yourself in the heart of our vibrant downtown area with fine shops, amazing restaurants and just minutes from Sarasota's bayfront.... it's simply PARADISO!

Condo Community: Alinari

Alinari is one of my favorite downtown condo communities. As you may or may not know nearly all condo communities limit owners to only one small pet or no pets at all. If you are a pet lover like myself, but yet want the maintenance free aspect of condo ownership with all the conveniences of downtown living then Alinari presents an attractive option. It allows owners to have two pets under 100lbs with board approval. The building itself is a true high rise building which is amenity rich. Another aspect I like about Alinari is that it offers potential buyers the option of both bay views (afternoon sun) or city views (morning sun). Pricing in Alinari starts in the $300,000s into the million dollar range. Come enjoy everything downtown Sarasota has too offer with your large furry friends.

Condo Community: Condo on the Bay

Wouldn’t  you like a  $ 1-2 million dollar view in the arts and cultural district of Sarasota for half the price? That is the incredible value offered at Condo on the Bay, rising above the Sarasota Bay front at 888 and 988 Blvd of the Arts. From every unit in these two high rises, you’ll have a full western unobstructed view across Sarasota Bay. Recent sales have seen prices range from $630,000 to $840,000 for 2/2 units of 1555 to 1729 SF. The location provides perfect “walk-ability” to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, grocers, downtown shops, galleries, and dining. With two tennis courts, beautifully landscaped grounds, affordable boat slips, concierge service, guarded gate with secure building, as well as fitness center/sauna, these “pet friendly” condos stand out as an incomparable value for luxurious living and stunning vistas in Downtown Sarasota.

Condo Community: Cityscape

I am a big fan of Cityscape. There is still a great opportunity for affordable urban living with huge two story views. Many of these units are being purchased and renovated pushing value up considerably. It has been said these units have that "New York feel" and provide a ton of natural light. There is still great upside potential here. The building holds 19 units and offers residents concierge service with secure elevator access by key fob. The ground floor has a great variety of restaurants and is steps away from McCurrdy's Comedy Club, Hollywood 20, and all the shops on Main Street.
