Celebrities Buying in Florida
It is no surprise that wealthy celebrities are house hunting here in the sunshine state given all of the benefits that Florida has to offer.
Mick Jagger
News broke today that Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger purchased a home for girlfriend Melanie Hamrick and their 4-year-old son, Devereaux, as a Christmas present. The ballet dancer decided to make Florida her primary residence after leaving the American Ballet Theatre last year to spend more time raising their son. Apparently, the Sarasota property's privacy was a “major factor” in why they chose the home. While the couple usually spends the holidays on the Caribbean island of Mustique, this year they'll be celebrating in London first.
Sylvester Stallone
Hollywood icon and wife Jennifer Flavin will settle into lakefront estate on North End, sources confirm for the Palm Beach Daily News
Oscar-nominated star of the “Rocky” and “Rambo” movie franchises is behind the purchase, recorded at $35.375 million, of a lakefront compound on the far North End of town, the Palm Beach Daily News has confirmed.
Stallone, who is married to entrepreneur and former model Jennifer Flavin, is the latest star to join the constellation of celebrities who call Palm Beach home. That list includes rockers Jon Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart, radio and television personality Howard Stern and conservative firebrand Rush Limbaugh.
Completed in 2014, the gated Bermuda-style compound linked to Stallone at 1480 N. Lake Way stands on 1½ acres with 253 feet of lakefront. It features a dock and a sandy beach beyond the seawall.
The sale was financed with a $15 million, 30-year mortgage, courthouse records show.
The estate includes the two-story main residence, a separate guesthouse and a pool pavilion. In all, the property has seven bedrooms and 13,241 square feet of living space, inside and out, according to its sales listing.
French doors in all the buildings face the lakefront, with the open-air cabana directly overlooking the waterfront pool and whirlpool spa.
Stallone, 74, who in the 1990s owned a home on Miami’s Biscayne Bay, took possession of the Palm Beach property in a sale recorded Wednesday by the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office.
Stallone has longtime ties to South Florida. His late father, Frank Stallone Sr., for years had a house in Wellington. Frank Stallone dies in 2011 at 91 and was well known among the village’s polo community.
Sylvester Stallone sold his estate near Coconut Grove in Miami for a recorded $16.2 million in 1999. During his student years, Stallone took classes at Miami Dade College before enrolling in the University of Miami’s acting school, according to online reports.
Ivanka and Jared Kushner

Indian Creek Island is a guarded, gated community just northwest of Miami Beach. Forty-one luxury residences on the 300-acre island are guarded by the State of Florida police force, as well as a 24/7 armed marine patrol in the island’s surrounding waters. Amenities on the island include an 18-hole golf course and country club, lush gardens and properties with “resort-style pools.”
The island is located about an hour away from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, and is also in close proximity to the $22 million Miami property Kushner’s younger brother, Joshua, recently purchased with supermodel wife Karlie Kloss.
The lot Trump and Kushner purchased is reportedly 1.84 acres with 200 feet of private waterfront. Taxes on the property are $472,764 per year.
A number of other well-known celebrities have been residents of the island in the past, including Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, pro golfer Raymond Floyd, billionaire investor Carl Icahn, model Adriana Lima and Saudi Arabian sheik Mohammed al-Fassi.
“Indian Creek is a magnificent parade of palatial homes exuding extravagance, with panoramic, breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay, the skyline of Downtown Miami, and a premier location of South Florida and the world,” the island’s website reads.
